1977 VW Campervan Riviera in Norwich, Norfolk for sale

Our lovely Old Bleu is up for sale reluctantly as we are looking to buy a house this year. We would like him to go to a loving home, as he is a real belter of a bus who has given us so many good memories on day trips and overnights along the Norfolk coast and beyond. He is a 1977 LHD Riviera with the original blue paintwork. Imported from Oregon, USA by Wagen Hutte in Oct 2013, bought by us in Dec 2014. He has lots of history and invoices from Wagen Hutte and the previous American owners that we’ve loved because they add to his fantastic life story. He has never been welded and is a fantastic solid bus with no rot except the leisure battery tray. As the photos show, there are dinks and scratches from his life that give him lots of character, hence the name! He had a run in with a deer in the US and so the front has had some work done to rectify it including a respray to match the original colour. He has had an MOT in January, which runs until 11th January 2017. Advisories are damaged ball joint dust covers and a damaged suspension arm ball joint dust cover, all of which are still preventing ingress of dirt. Nearside front wheel bearing is also starting to get noisy. Since arriving in England, he has had lots of improvements… The interior has been retrimmed throughout. New front seats and rear bench, door cards etc A full Westfalia interior and side windows have been installed, the units have a few chips off here and there but give loads of practical storage space including a cool box. The Westy interior gives a full width rock and roll bed that folds down flat so it is comfortable and safe. There are no dodgy fill-in cushions that won’t take your weight. I am over 6 ft tall and it is still comfortable. The Riviera has great roof space with a “double” size full width bed with equal headroom across, with adaptation to stop smaller children from falling out. This works well for our 5 and 8 year olds kids. The addition of Marvel superhero ceiling decoration was the clincher for our kids. Cot over the front 2 seats, so sleeps 5 in total. The sink comes with all plumbing and a brand new genuine tap and pump, but not fitted yet. The flooring has all been renewed with full Madmatz cab trim and Madmatz cargo floor tiles in red and white. The curtains have been replaced to match with black out Bingham curtains, including the one that goes over the cab doors and windscreen. There is also a set of thermo window mats to make it even warmer and darker. In terms of a stereo, it is fitted with an Alpine iPod head unit, with new JBL speakers in the doors, and hidden sound exciters under the dash. The exterior and mechanicals have also had lots of work in the last couple of years too: • New rubbers for the cab door, sliding door and tailgate • New windscreen and rubber seal • 2.0L type 2 engine, runs really well, with no leaks and enough grunt to keep up with traffic • 6 rib gearbox, the best standard gearbox available • Twin 40 genuine Weber IDF carbs • Empi linkage • Malpassi filter king fuel filter with regulator and gauge • Facet electric fuel pump • New engine consumables, plugs, leads, cap, etc etc • New battery • Empi exhaust and header • New heater control pods • Excellent steering box, very stable, and safe • New master brake cylinder • New well sealed access hatch to the top of the engine bay • New fuel sender unit • New starter motor In summary, Old Bleu’s exterior is not going to win a beauty parade but is an instantly usable and enjoyable bus who can be relied on. His bodywork and mechanicals are solid and his interior is really comfortable and well laid out. We love his lived in look and hope you do too.
